Northern Cyprus - Saint Barnabas Monastery
Saint Barnabas Monastery, also known as St. Barnabas Arkeoloji ve İkon Müzesi, is a Greek Orthodox monastery located in Northern Cyprus. It is named after Barnabas, one of the apostles of Jesus and the patron saint of Cyprus.
The monastery is located in the village of Maratha, near the town of Famagusta, and is believed to have been founded in the 4th or 5th century. It is an important site for the Greek Orthodox Church, and is home to the tomb of St. Barnabas, who is said to have brought Christianity to Cyprus.
The monastery is also home to the St. Barnabas Museum, which houses a collection of religious artifacts, including icons, manuscripts, and other items. The museum is open to the public and is a popular tourist attraction in Northern Cyprus.
